Item description
ADX (Average Directional Index) is a technical analysis indicator used to measure the strength of a market trend. It helps traders identify whether the market is trending strongly or moving sideways. ADX Does Not Show Trend Direction
How ADX Works: ADX usually ranges from 0 to 100:
• Below 20: Weak trend or sideways market
• 20–25: Trend may be developing
• 25–50: Strong trend
• 50–75: Very strong trend
• 75–100: Extremely strong trend
An important point is that ADX measures trend strength, not whether the trend is bullish or bearish. It is commonly used with two additional lines:
• +DI: Indicates bullish/upward directional movement
• −DI: Indicates bearish/downward directional movement
• ADX: Shows the strength of the trend
For example, if +DI is above −DI and ADX is rising, it can indicate a strengthening upward trend. If −DI is above +DI and ADX is rising, it can indicate a strengthening downward trend.
Remember: ADX tells you how strong the trend is, while +DI and −DI help indicate the direction.
