Job’s Responsibilities:
GiLUXE is deploying a global private-cloud infrastructure (based on the OpenStack virtualization platform); this infrastructure will support our corporate needs, and also a variety of high-traffic online products and mobile applications, ranging from Social Networking, to eCommerce, Video Streaming, Gaming, and Mobile. This private cloud will use only open-source technology and the hardware will be distributed in clusters across multiple co-location data centers around the world.
The Systems & Network Administrator has the exciting responsibility of overseeing the initial deployment of this private-cloud infrastructure, and also of managing the 24/7 operations and continuous performance improvement of the infrastructure. The Systems & Network Administrator has a wide range of responsibilities, including:
•Remotely install, configure, monitor and maintain a variety of systems, servers, routers, switches, and load balancers located in several data centers around the world.
•Analyze and test the ongoing network performance and periodically report the results to management.
•Troubleshoot network issues, eliminate recurring problems, and put safety guards in place to avoid the occurrence of cascading network failures.
•Document network failures and solutions, plan, standardize and implement network’s improvements and best practices.
•Plan and design network’s procedures to achieve network automation, high-availability, disaster recovery, and network performance improvement.
•Forecast increases in network capacity, and use these forecasts to recommend to management an appropriate infrastructure expansion plan.
•Research and recommend new network technologies, products, services, protocols, and standards to improve current network’s scalability, security, performance, and automation.
•Manage systems and software updates/patches, recommend hardware upgrades, administer and maintain employee account permissions, and access rights.
•Closely collaborate with the software and product development teams to ensure that the company’s private-cloud infrastructure adequately meets the performance requirements of the company’s online and mobile products.
Minimum Requirements:
•1 to 3 years experience with Linux system administration in a 24/7 environment.
•Expertise with Linux programming and shell scripting.
•Deep understanding of Linux fundamentals, including kernel subsystems (scheduler, VM, etc.), system calls, inter-process communication, process/resource management, and file systems.
•A minimum of 6 months experience managing private or public clouds/virtual infrastructures (e.g. of private cloud platforms: OpenStack, VMware, Citrix XenServer, etc.; or public clouds like Amazon AWS, Rackspace, etc.).
•Understanding of hardware and software performance considerations, such as multi-threading and other parallelization techniques.
•Ability to work both collaboratively as part of a team, and independently with minimal supervision, on multiple projects.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Great attention to details.
•Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

Education and Certifications Requirements:
BS or MS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent IT degree, with a strong academic record.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience managing large-scale distributed systems is a plus.
•Experience with the administration of large farms of databases (e.g. MySQL and/or NoSQL distributed databases) is a plus.
•Knowledge of any of the following is a plus: Java, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ajax.
•Network Certifications - Any of the following network certifications is a plus: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), or equivalent technical certifications.
