Introduction



Mount Carmel College for women is one of the renowned colleges in Bangalore. The college was founded in 1948 and has been a leader since inception in empowering women through promoting quality education. Mount Carmel is one of the first colleges for women to be opened in the state of Karnataka and has been a recipient of ‘Five Stars’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).



Academics



Affiliated to Bangalore University, Mount Carmel College’s academics offer five major study programmes, namely Business Studies, Applied Science & Design, Humanities, Commerce & Management, and Science. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. B.A, BSc and BCom are the most popular undergraduate degrees offered at Mount Carmel. Students have a choice to choose from 15 postgraduate programmes offered by the college.



Mount Carmel College Bangalore admission procedure



The applications forms are available on the official website of Mount Carmel College, and only online application forms are accepted. There is an application fee of Rs. 500/- for undergraduate programmes and Rs. 700/- for postgraduate programmes. The application fees are not refundable. The applicant's recent passport size photo as a soft copy and signature have to be mandatorily uploaded along with the application form being submitted online.



Mount Carmel College admission criteria



The college extends special consideration to the economically backward, differently abled, Catholic minority, backward communities, and scheduled castes & tribes. In all other cases, admission in Mount Carmel college is based on merit.



BBA admission in Mount Carmel College is based on an entrance examination. The schedule for the entrance exam for Mount Carmel BBA admission will be announced as an alert on the candidate registration portal based on a unique id. The exam results will be announced on the Notice Board at the college.



Admission to B.Com programmes is based on merit. The BCA admission will be through a walk-in interview that will be held post publishing of the II PUC results. It is mandatory to have a Maths background for applicants applying for BCA degree. Similarly, BSc and BA admissions will be based on walk-in interviews conducted post the announcement of II PUC results. The admission for all the postgraduate programmes will be based on merit.



Students who are applying under ‘reservation' category are required to submit attested copies of Income / Caste certificates. A parish priest recommendation letter along with the latest certificate of baptism is mandatory for students applying under "Catholic minority" category. A handicap or disability certificate copy issued by a registered Medical authority is mandatory for claiming admission under "physically disabled" category.
